What is is taraweeh mandatory?

Taraweeh is a voluntary prayer performed by Muslims during the month of Ramadan after the obligatory night prayers (Isha). It is Sunnah Mu’akkadah, which means that it is a strongly recommended practice based on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the consensus of the scholars.

While Taraweeh is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged for Muslims to perform it as it is a means of seeking forgiveness, increasing one's spirituality, and earning rewards from Allah. It is also a way to strengthen one's relationship with Allah and increase one's knowledge and understanding of the Quran.

Muslims can perform Taraweeh individually or in congregation at the mosque, and the number of rakats (units of prayer) can vary from 8 to 20 depending on different schools of thought. It is recommended to perform Taraweeh with concentration, humility, and devotion, seeking to maximize one's spiritual benefit during the blessed month of Ramadan.
